Welcome to Guy with Marker.

A little bit about me – My name is Bailey. I like long walks on the beach, I work hard but play harder, I love to laugh… OKAY I digress, this about me page is about to be a journal entry. Buckle up.

Backstory...

Beginning at 18, I started working in the film industry. I worked my way into the camera department over the years, learning the in’s and outs of building cameras, lenses, lighting, and scene building. I built myself a comfortable little life, with a good career, ladder to climb, and worked hard from changing garbages, to rolling and cutting the camera.

It was around that time I realized that I didn’t see myself passionate as a film maker forever. I made the tough decision to give up my home, career, friendships, and start over.

I moved back into my parent’s closet, and spent the next year and a half learning how to run a travel blog. I went from preparing to buy a home, to not being able to afford a $30 a month phone bill. When I say I gave up everything, I mean everything

I launched my food and travel blog, learning photography, composition, writing, design, editing, and everything inbetween. I’ve spent the last 10 years (officially) running my food and travel blog full time.

But I still wanted to create more…

Welcome to Guy with Marker

If you were to break down the last year and a half into hours, I’d guestimate over 65% would be in my art studio. Quick math – about 8,500 hours. My top gameplay time is Stardew Valley, at a whopping 1600 hours. Yeah.

My last year has been dedicated to my art and building this space for the world that gave it to me.

My background comes from such a different world than most artists – I almost worked in reverse. Camera in the film industry – solo photography – physical art. I almost did a benjamin button.

This site is isn’t designed to teach you exactly what steps to take when you’re creating, rather, to show you how I’ve taken a concept, and broken it down to work for me.

Nobody is done learning or growing, especially when it comes to art, or creating in any medium.

I quickly learned how connected and special the community here is, and found my space that felt safe, a second home.

I’ve created this site to give back to the art community and coloring community, in hopes that this hobby I stumbled upon – like you – gives you the same feeling of friendship and confidence.

I’ve got so much more to share, but I’m going to do that through my art.
